Restorations Repair Rather Than Replace

If your teeth have become damaged, you may experience functional issues or feel embarrassed about the way they look when you smile. You may also have heightened sensitivity or pain in those teeth. Extraction is not your only option! When a tooth’s roots are strong and healthy, that tooth may be worth saving. We just may need to put a new exterior on it. If you have chipped, broken teeth, or cracked teeth, the Sapphire Family Dentistry team can make your smile complete and completely functional again with dental bridges and dental crowns in Richmond, TX.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are fixed “caps” that we attach to the healthy inner portion of your tooth to restore its strength, beauty, and function—and your self-confidence—after damage or decay. We typically recommend crowns if a tooth cannot be repaired with bonding or composite fillings, or after you’ve undergone a root canal or have had a dental implant placed. To determine what kind of treatment you need, we use our cone beam CT scanner to capture 3D x-ray images of your mouth. If crowns are called for, we’ll take a digital impression of your teeth with our intraoral scanner. The impression will be used as the template for your new restoration(s). Our crowns are of the highest quality and craftsmanship and come with a one-year warranty. Before we attach a crown, usually during your next visit, we make sure it fits securely over your tooth and matches the color of neighboring teeth. Dental crowns enable us to:

  • Reclaim a damaged tooth
  • Make tooth shape, size, and color consistent
  • Repair a tooth that has decayed
  • Reinforce a tooth after a root canal
  • Restore a dental implant

Dental Bridges

If you’ve had a tooth come out, but you aren’t ready for a dental implant, a dental bridge may be the solution for you. Dental bridges are rows of dental crowns that fill the gap left after you’ve lost a tooth to decay or extraction. The crowns at each end of the row are secured to your existing healthy teeth, creating a bridge over the damaged area. To ensure your bridge fits comfortably and seamlessly, we take digital impressions of the area. Experienced technicians at our partner dental lab will use these to handcraft your dental bridge. The final product will be made of high-quality materials and color-matched to look natural when placed among your existing teeth. Dental bridges enable us to:

  • Restore function and aesthetics after tooth loss
  • Improve your greater oral health
  • Eliminate unsightly gaps in your smile
  • Keep remaining teeth from shifting
